Building a Solar Powered Robot with a KS2 learner in the The Satellite School Mobile Classroom.

STEMMobile Classroom
This week our mobile classroom became a mini engineering lab. Working one-to-one with a Key Stage 2 learner, we took on a hands-on STEM challenge: building a working solar-powered robot from a kit, then watching it come to life in the sunshine.

It's the kind of session that does far more than it looks. Following the step-by-step instructions builds focus, sequencing and resilience; clicking the small parts together sharpens fine motor skills; and a few "why won't it move?" moments turn into real problem-solving. Along the way we talked about renewable energy and how the sun's light becomes movement, science you can hold in your hands.
